Late in the afternoon, you are likely to see a lion or cheetah make a kill. Ideal photography opportunities abound with Mount Kilimanjaro providing a beautiful back drop. Proceed to Lake Amboseli which is a wide salt pan that consists of permanent swamps. This area has got much game with a high concentration of elephants, rhinos, buffalos Burchell's zebras, elands, Masai giraffes and small species of the antelope family, common water bucks, klipspringer, Grant's gazelle, impalas, topis. The park is also a sanctuary for the white rhino among other wild game. Lake Nakuru is among Kenya's finest national parks. Flanked by rocky escarpments, pockets of acacia forest and at least one waterfall, the park is gorgeous year-round and is home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered Rothschild giraffes. Rising water levels in 2014 forced the park's famous flamingos to flee (although a small number had returned at the time of research) and the lake is now hauntingly surrounded by drowned trees.
