Argentina Visa Policy

The Argentine government requires foreigners to obtain visas before entry into the country, except for citizens of visa-exempt countries. Visa applications are processed through Argentine diplomatic missions abroad or online. Visa-exempt status varies based on agreements between Argentina and foreign countries, either multilateral or bilateral.

Visa-Exempt Entry

If you are from a visa-exempt country, you can enter Argentina without a visa. With a valid passport, you are allowed to stay for up to 90 days, 60 days, or 30 days, depending on your nationality. However, visa-free visitors are not permitted to work unless they hold work visas.

Argentina Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

Foreigners from selected countries and territories may apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for non-commercial purposes such as tourism, business, transit, or medical treatment. Eligibility for ETA includes holding a valid visa issued by the United States, specifically B2, B1, J, O, P, or E visas. Additionally, applicants must provide evidence of visiting the US at least once in the past two years before applying for ETA or a US visa.

The ETA application process is quick, typically taking three days or less for processing.

Argentine Travel Certificate

Citizens of Taiwan, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kosovo, Nauru, and the Sahrawi Democratic Republic may be issued an Argentine Travel Certificate for short trips to Argentina.

Key Information About the Argentina Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

  • The ETA is not a visa but a legal entry document.
  • Applications must be submitted from outside Argentina.
  • The ETA is only valid for designated entry routes into Argentina.
  • Visitors must demonstrate financial sufficiency for their stay.
  • Argentine Immigration reserves the right to deny entry to ETA holders if they cannot justify their visit or if false information is detected.
